ABS-CBN has officially introduced the new P-pop girl group DNA, which just launched its debut single \u201cDon\u2019t Ask Me Why<\/a>\u201d under the StarPop record label. <\/p>\n

The three-member group consists of Tasha, Julia, and Ezri, who share a musical bond as daughters of renowned composer and musical director Raul Mitra and singer Cacai Velasquez-Mitra. Their aunt, OPM icon Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, encouraged them to form a group, as they were all passionate about music and arts.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven from a young age we liked performing. We did theater workshops, and we watched a lot of \u2018America\u2019s Next Top Model,\u2019 so we had fashion shows, and they would take pictures of us,\u201d Julia shared in a video uploaded on Star Magic YouTube channel.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was also around the time of Wonder Girls and their song \u2018Nobody\u2019 was really popular. That one we used to dance to in front of the TV. It was second-generation K-pop that we were so inspired by,\u201d Ezri added.<\/p>\n

But even with their sisterly bond, the DNA members also went through a tough time before they eventually got their rhythm. \u201cThe process to get to being comfortable doing it together was a very, very long one. There were a lot of tears, a lot of arguments,\u201d Tasha said.<\/p>\n

Their song \u201cDon\u2019t Ask Me Why\u201d was composed by Ezri, which serves as an anthem of self-expression, encouraging listeners to stay true to themselves despite others\u2019 opinions. It was produced by ABS-CBN Music creative, content, and operations head Jonathan Manalo.<\/p>\n

Tasha, Julia, and Ezri signed a management contract with Star Magic last July and were first introduced as the Mitra sisters. <\/p>\n

Before their debut, the trio showcased their powerful harmonies and fresh energy when they guest performed in Regine and Vice Ganda\u2019s \u201cSUPERDIVAS\u201d concert as well as in the Sunday noontime variety show \u201cASAP.\u201d<\/p>\n
