Boy Abunda leads a call for solidarity, equality, and respect in the Philippines\u2019 first Pride EP \u201cSay It Clear, Say It Loud<\/a>,” performed by Kapamilya singers and members of the LGBTQ+ community Anton Antenorcruz, Raven Heyres, and Saga.<\/p>\n

The six-track EP, released on Friday (June 28) before the Pride 2024 celebration comes to a close, was produced by the veteran host in partnership with record label Star Music.<\/p>\n

Boy wanted the mini-album to become his legacy for the LGBTQ+ community. He shared, \u201cI\u2019m going for legacy. Ano ba ang naging contribution na nagawa ko para sa LGBTQ community? We haven\u2019t thought of music as a tool to tell our story.\u201d<\/p>\n

The King of Talk\u2019s personal journey helped him write the songs in the EP.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not a professional composer but I know the story. I know the joys and pains of being gay. I know how it is to pray. I know how it is to be discriminated. So ang baon ko lamang habang ginagawa natin ang mga awiting ito ay ang kwento ng mga miyembro ng LGBTQIA+ community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The EP features solo tracks from the \u201cTawag ng Tanghalan\u201d alumni\u2014Anton\u2019s \u201cKalbaryo,\u201d Saga\u2019s \u201cDiyos Ko, Diyos Ko Po!,\u201d and Raven\u2019s \u201cPapa Alleluia.\u201d s<\/p>\n

Anton highlighted the equality message of the song \u201cKalbaryo.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPara sa akin po hindi kabawasan ng pagkatao ang pagiging bakla o pagiging lesbian. Lahat po tayo ay pare-parehas na tao at pantay-pantay,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Saga meanwhile said \u201cDiyos Ko, Diyos Ko Po!\u201d truly resonated with him and included words that he had previously prayed for.<\/p>\n

He shared, \u201cActually kahit sinulat po siya ni Tito Boy, yung mga words na po na yun ay something na pinagdasal ko na rin po. Gusto ko lang maramdaman ng mga taong nakikinig na magdasal sila with me, magdasal sila with everyone, na makita nila na we are all children of God.\u201d<\/p>\n

Raven, on the other hand, felt overwhelmed to be chosen to perform the song \u201cPapa Alleluia.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cKinabahan din po ako. Yung kanta po kasi nito is \u2018thank you for the Pope\u2019 kaya tinanggap ko po siya ng buong puso at overwhelmed po ako na ako ang napili ni Tito Boy para iperform ang song na ito.\u201d<\/p>\n

Previously released collaborations of the trio \u201cBilang,\u201d \u201cSay It Clear, Say It Loud,\u201d and \u201cIdeal World,\u201d are also part of the EP.<\/p>\n
