The Philippines is the seventh \u201cfastest-growing\u201d remote work hub in the world, according to work and travel platform Nomad List.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil noted that Manila has been named by Nomad List as among the 10 ideal destinations in Asia, South America and Europe for digital nomads or remote workers who usually travel to different locations.<\/p>\n
The list of fastest-growing global remote work destinations was posted on the World Economic Forum\u2019s (WEF) official Instagram account.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the listing, destinations are ranked by growth rates of check-ins made in uik my places by tens of thousands of Nomad List members using live data analyzing 299,498 check-ins. The primary rank is the most recent growth in check-ins,\u201d Garafil said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese growth numbers give travelers and workers an idea of the fastest growing remote work hubs and also show the current rank on Nomad List so they can gauge the popularity of the place,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
Tokyo, Japan topped the list, followed by Danang, Vietnam; Seoul, South Korea; Kuala Lumpur and Penang, both in Malaysia.<\/p>\n
The other places considered as fastest-growing remote work destinations include Montevideo, Uruguay (6th), Hanoi, Vietnam (8th), Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (9th), and Ljubljana, Slovenia (10th).<\/p>\n
Garafil said Nomad List found them the \u201cbest\u201d places in the world to live, work and travel as a remote worker, \u201ccollecting millions of data points every second on thousands of cities around the world, from cost of living, temperature to safety.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTracking the country\u2019s five-year growth from 2018 to 2022, the Philippines posted +78-percent growth. For 2023, it recorded +60-percent growth based on 10 months of data. Last year, it posted +1,183-percent growth,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Garafil affirmed the Philippines\u2019 inclusion as one of the top remote work hubs worldwide, saying the country is also ideal for business because of its \u201csustained economic growth rate, current bureaucratic reforms, and the administration\u2019s ongoing thrust for infrastructure development and digitalization.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Marcos government has been enticing businesses to come to the Philippines, considering the country\u2019s young, highly skilled, and English-speaking workforce,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Nomad list is a platform with over 10,000 members who log the places where they are working.<\/p>\n
