Biking has proven many benefits to hobbyists and the communities. Recently, SM Supermalls employees who love biking have added more to these benefits.
\nTo celebrate World Bike Day last June 3, 2022, SM employees from Metro Manila and Rizal malls, also biking enthusiasts, gather for a fun and meaningful bike ride for charity. It was a nine (9) kilometer travel from SM City Masinag, Antipolo City as their starting point; to the Meritxell Children\u2019s World Foundation in Marikina City \u2013 the chosen charity of the employees.The foundation cares for the marginalized and abandoned children ages 0-15 since 2008. They began their cause as a response to the difficulties of providing adequate care and attention to abandoned girls in the state-run care system in the country.
\nThe group of volunteers from SM donates toiletries to kids for their day-to-day needs. The children of Meritxell Foundation were also treated with hot meals in time for breakfast. Volunteers also spent time cheering the children with a short but entertaining program.
\n\u201cVolunteerism gives you that sense of contribution to the community. It also gives you that sense of sharing especially with those people who are in need. I hope that this would also inspire everyone to promote a healthy and cleaner environment for all of us, for all of our children, and for all the generations to come,\u201d said SM Supermalls Regional Human Resources Manager Eloisa Callejo.
